The Fire Safety Research Institute (FSRI), part of UL Research Institutes Internship Program is an opportunity for highly motivated undergraduate and graduate students to make a significant contribution to our mission of addressing the world’s unresolved fire safety risks and emerging dangers.
FSRI offers internships in various scientific and engineering specialties such as fire protection engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering and data science as well as in amplification roles like marketing, communications, multimedia design, social media / analytics, brand management or instructional design.
Candidates come from all types of backgrounds and have a variety of experience, but all share some commonalities:
- Passion for their field of study and for furthering their knowledge
- Flexibility and an aptitude for creative problem-solving
- A strong desire to contribute to a fire safe world
The work environment is fast-paced and collaborative, and interns will come away with valuable, relevant and applicable professional experience. Some internships even lead to full-time positions within the FSRI team.
"I’ve learned a lot about fire safety and how safety information is relayed to the public. I’m learning how to develop, edit and produce content. I’m also learning to contribute to other department initiatives and getting better at interpreting scientific writing."
