UL’s Fire Safety Research Institute (FSRI) is proud to announce the formation of the new Training Advisory Committee (TAC). Created to guide the ongoing development of content and the way in which it is shared in the Fire Safety Academy (FSA), the TAC will provide advice and recommendations to further enhance the content shared through this dynamic learning management platform of free science-based training for the fire service.
Fifteen inaugural members were selected from fire departments around North America to serve as TAC advisors. These highly-motivated fire service instructors and training officers will convene for the first meeting early in 2023 at FSRI headquarters in Maryland. Throughout their terms, TAC advisors will collaborate with FSRI’s instructional design experts to share professional experience, knowledge and insights to inform the trajectory of training offerings and reach new users.

“Collaboration with fire service is at the heart of our work at FSRI,” said Angela Bennett, Manager of Training and Education at FSRI. “The TAC will continue this partnership and guide us as we share actionable insights from our research that can be applied on the fireground and in day-to-day operations. We are grateful these highly experienced and knowledgeable experts have agreed to volunteer their time and talents to help us.”
TAC advisors were selected from a field of well qualified and passionate applicants, which made the selection process particularly challenging. Those who applied and were not selected are encouraged to stay engaged with the project and FSRI as new opportunities to participate occur regularly.
