Nate is a Postdoctoral Researcher for UL’s Fire Safety Research Institute (FSRI), joining the team in September 2023. Nate holds a Bachelor's in mechanical engineering, and a Masters and PhD in Fire Protection Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Nate started his PhD in January 2019, joining an effort to further research oil spill cleanup techniques on the ocean. Graduating in 2023, his research furthered the understanding of this problem by investigating the burning behavior of liquid fuels on wavy water.
